We use photographs as records of memory to keep memories alive. They serve as a trigger to our mind to recall the essence of being in that moment and series of time.

Within my ice melting installation I am using old family photos about ancestors, who are no longer living.

I am using screen printing to apply the images onto ice. When the surface is cold enough the ink is freezing on the top, but it will not dry. I am not able to control the melting part. Some of them fade faster than the others. When the metamorphosis starts, all of the ink sooner or later become one, dilute with the water, and step by step the ice disappears and takes on its new form.

“”What do you see in that immense sky? J. asked.

”Clouds”

“No,” J. said. “You see the soul of rivers. Rivers that have just been reborn in the sea. They will rise to sky and remain there until, for whatever reason, they once again become rain and fall to earth.

“ The rivers return to the mountains, but carry with them the wisdom of the sea”

J. poured himself some mineral water. He didn't usually drink during the day.

“That is how you discovered those secrets we had never discussed J. said. “You are the river. You have already run down to the sea, and you know it is wisdom. You have died and been reborn many times. All you have to do is remember. “”( The Valkyries An Encounter with Angels, Paulo Coelho, translated by Alan R. Clarke, HarperCollins Publishers, 1995 p. 5.)

425 piece handmade paper circles printed with several techniques like, relief -, screen -, monotype, foam printing. I also used a collage technique, pulp painting and needle work. Some sections had been dipped in bee wax.
